Topic
Preventing the Weaponization of Outer Space: Satellite Systems and Anti-Satellite (ASAT) Weapons
Committee Overview
Modern societies depend on satellites for communication, navigation, science, disaster response, and many civilian services. The development or use of anti-satellite capabilities can threaten these systems, create debris, and increase international tension.
Delegates will explore confidence-building measures, transparency, international norms, and cooperative safeguards intended to preserve outer space for peaceful uses.
Preparation Tips
- Research your assigned country’s or delegation’s position thoroughly.
